Romancing the Killer Creates a Darker Route
The developer has confirmed that a normal romance candidate can become the active killer, changing that relationship into a darker experience.
What the new information establishes
The cozy relationship does not simply disappear when the character is selected as the murderer. Instead, the playthrough can preserve romance while adding different context, danger, and consequences. In another campaign, the same resident may not be the killer at all.
What this means for players and our guides
Character pages will separate spoiler-free identity facts, ordinary relationship information, victim state, and killer-campaign material. This prevents one route's revelations from contaminating every profile and avoids presenting a character as the universal culprit.
